- IT service management processes — particularly those governing quality assurance, such as defining processes and use cases and working with test cases — are essential to operating complex solutions that deliver real value to end users.
- The primary purpose of IT services is to support business processes.
- Whoever masters the data holds a competitive advantage.
- Only correct data yields correct information. Information is the essential basis for decisions.
- Workarounds are a symptom of poor IT support, inadequate business processes, or both. In either case they cause delays and additional cost.

- Individual contributions never deliver great results on their own — major challenges are mastered efficiently only in an (interdisciplinary) team.
- Reference data management carries a level of complexity that few in this field have mastered.
- In complex IT landscapes, poor data quality triggers corrective action that reduces the availability of complex systems — up to and including commercial damage on the industry side.
